# How customers query their data in AI clients

> The building blocks that let customers and your team query your data from Claude, ChatGPT and other AI clients, and where each lives in the console.

Updated: 2026-10-12

Customers and your team ask questions in Claude, ChatGPT or another AI client. The agent queries your database
through an authenticated MCP server you govern, which can keep each customer to its own data. A workspace holds your
databases, the apps and MCP servers that read them, and the customers you give access to.

## In a nutshell

- [Workspace](#workspace): your company's account at `app.bonnard.ai`.
- [Databases](#databases): connections to your data.
- [Apps](#apps-and-mcp-servers): an app and an MCP server on one database, which you govern.
- [Customers](#customers-and-tenants): the organisations you give access to, and their users.
- [Identity providers](#identity-providers): sign-in through your own identity provider.
- [Observability](#observability): every call, recorded.
- [Charts and dashboards](#charts-and-dashboards): answers worth keeping.
- [AI clients](#claude-chatgpt-and-other-ai-clients): where people ask.

## Workspace

Your company's account in Bonnard. Your team signs in to the console at `app.bonnard.ai` as members. **Settings** holds
the workspace's members and billing, and your own
API keys.

## Databases

A connection to one of your databases, added on the **Data** page. Its tabs: **Tables** (what Bonnard found),
**Tenancy** (how your customers' data is laid out, where the engine has options), and **Settings**. See
[PostgreSQL](https://bonnard.ai/docs/connect-data/postgresql.md) or the [sample data](https://bonnard.ai/docs/connect-data/sample-data.md).

## Apps and MCP servers

An app and its MCP server read one database at their own production URL, `https://app.bonnard.ai/mcp/<slug>`. You
govern each one on its tabs: [who can connect](https://bonnard.ai/docs/apps/audience.md) (**Overview**),
what the agent can do (**Tools**), [which tables it finds](https://bonnard.ai/docs/connect-data/table-curation.md)
(**Data**), and API keys (**Settings**). The production URL answers once you
[publish](https://bonnard.ai/docs/apps/publish-and-staging.md). See [Create an app](https://bonnard.ai/docs/apps/create-an-app.md).

## Customers and tenants

The organisations you give access to. Each has a tenant, the value that marks its data in your database, and users,
who sign in to your apps. A role labels each user's calls. See Customers and roles.

## Identity providers

Connect Microsoft Entra ID, Okta, Auth0, WorkOS, Google Workspace, or any OIDC provider on the **Identity & access**
page, for customer SSO, tokens your identity provider issues, and staff sign-in. See
Identity providers.

## Observability

Every tool call made through your apps: calls, errors, and latency on **Overview**, one row per call on **Logs**, and
totals per tenant on **Usage**. See Observability.

## Charts and dashboards

A chart is one SQL query, drawn; a dashboard is a grid of charts, KPIs, and text. Save them from your AI client or
build them in the console, and offer published dashboards through an app. See [Charts](https://bonnard.ai/docs/charts/bar.md) and
Published dashboards.

## Claude, ChatGPT and other AI clients

Where people ask: Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, and others. The agent calls the app's tools, writes the SQL, and answers
with charts. See [Install in AI clients](https://bonnard.ai/docs/apps/install-in-ai-clients.md) and
Client compatibility.
